Our beloved classic yacht “Ghoster” is now for sale.
After 35 years of ownership and more than 100.000 miles on the log of the gorgeous 10 m R-yacht ”Ghoster” we have decided to put her on the marked.
The decision is mainly due to age and lack of manpower. We have always cruised and raced ”Ghoster” 2-handed in far away waters as the tropics and the arctic up to 80° north. We could off course nurse her around in Danish and Baltic waters, but that is not proper cruising in such a yacht. You can se all about our cruising and racing on the homepage.
”Ghoster” deserves a new owner that wants to get the excitement of glories sailing in one of the world’s most beautiful yachts. “Ghoster” is in commission and ready to take a new owner everywhere.
”Ghoster” would enjoy classic yacht racing in the Med, Antigua Racing Week etc. Her speed is fantastic – we have 10 times done over 240 nautical miles noon to noon, and the record was 270 nautical miles during the 2-handed Round Britain and Ireland Race, which we have done 4 times. ”Ghoster” is a magnificent sailing yacht with high potential in class racing. And if her new owner wants to make ”Ghoster” a classed 10 m R-yacht again, its just to remove the mizzen mast and step a 23 m high main mast with a longer boom in the same position as now. The engine is not a problem in modern classic racing.
”Ghoster”, under the name ”Refanut” 10 S2, was the most winning 10 m R-yacht in the Baltic/Stockholm waters from 1928 to 1939 in the ownership of Jacob Wallenberg. The former king of Norway, Olav V was often guest on board “Refanut” racing Sandhamn Regattas. That the king told us in Hankö in 1976 – and he remembered the pancakes served on board after the races. Olav V was a very keen R-yacht racing man owing both 6- and 8 meter R-yachts. You can read the whole “Ghoster” history and see at lot of pictures on www.bentlyman.dk/3-ghoster.html It is in Danish, but if you translate via google, you will understand everything, I guess.
It is very difficult to put a price on such a special classic yacht, but let us have a talk, and we will find the right price, if you a really serious.
Looking forward to be hearing from you soon.
Best regards
